GCE has experience with all sizes of soil vapor intrusion projects. GCE installed a four-point Sub-slab Depressurization System beneath a Manhattan apartment building to mitigate soil vapor intrusion into indoor air. ## Soil Vapor Intrusion (SVI) Mitigation GCE was chosen to install a Sub-slab Depressurization System (SSDS) with four extraction points beneath the footprint of a multi-story apartment building slab in Manhattan for soil vapor intrusion (SVI) mitigation in accordance with regulatory guidance. The system is intended to mitigate the migration of soil vapor intrusion of soil vapor through the site floor slab and into indoor air. Installation of the SSDS was completed in 2020 in the area affected by sub-slab VOC vapors was confirmed in 2019. Ongoing system operation, maintenance and monitoring and periodic certification of continuing system function and related administrative controls will be performed. ### Oil Spill Closure https://www.gcenvironmental.com/projects/oil-spill-closure/ When a spill or release occurs, trust GCE to provide timely, competent services and carry the spill closure process cradle to grave. GCE investigated a failed remote fill pipe in Manhattan, remediated the petroleum release, and closed the DEC Spill Number under NYSDEC DER-10 guidance. ## Oil Spill Cleanup Activities GCE was chosen to investigate the failed test of the below ground remote fill pipe for a property in Manhattan. Based on investigation, a release was discovered, remediated, and closed the DEC Spill Number according to the NYSDEC DER-10 Technical Guidance for Site Investigation and Remediation. Accessible contaminated soil discovered in the excavation area was placed into a hundred eighteen (118) 55-gallon DOT drums, removed from the Site, transported and disposed of according to the applicable regulatory standards. End point samples were collected. GCE provided environmental investigation and land-development services for a private complex redevelopment, delineating petroleum-impacted soil and groundwater. ## Environmental Investigation Activities GCE was chosen to complete a strategic environmental and integrated land development services for the redevelopment of a private complex within evaluating and implementing the environmental investigation activities through subsurface soil/groundwater/soil vapor/indoor air sampling, if potential contamination associated with the areas of environmental concern identified in the previous Phase I Environmental Site Assessment has environmentally impacted the Site. Based on the findings, vertical and horizontal delineation of subsurface petroleum contamination impacted soil/groundwater were determined. Groundwater contaminant plume was a search strategy objective in this project. The environmental conditions at the property have been performed according to the applicable standards. ### Site Assessment https://www.gcenvironmental.com/projects/site-assessment/ GCE applies its years of experience to provide a broad range of environmental consulting and contracting services to our clients. GCE completed Phase I and II ESAs, remediation, injection-well and sanitary closures, sewer connection, and UST and lift removals for a Long Island developer. ## DESCRIPTION GCE was chosen to complete Phase I, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Remediation, Underground Injection Well Closure, Sanitary Closure, Sewer Connection and Underground Oil Tank /Hydraulic Lift Removal works on behalf of a confidential Long Island developer. With Phase I and Phase II it was determined through subsurface soil/groundwater sampling and substructure investigation, if potential contamination associated with the areas of environmental concern identified in the previous Phase I Environmental Site Assessment has environmentally impacted the Site. Based on the findings, vertical and horizontal delineation of subsurface petroleum contamination impacted soil and vertical delineation of subsurface drainage structure were determined and all contaminated soil was removed from the Site. In addition, on-site former sanitary system was closed, sewer was connected to the building. Underground injection well was closed, all on-site drywells were remediated. The 4-4,000-gallon gasoline, 1-550-gallon #2 fuel oil Underground Storage Tanks and 2 Underground Hydraulic Lifts were removed from the site. All contaminated soil found during site investigation associated former tanks were excavated and removed from the Site. The environmental conditions at the property have been evaluated to the applicable regulatory agency and found in compliance with the department’s requirements. ### Phase I & Phase II ESA https://www.gcenvironmental.com/projects/phase-i-phase-ii-esa/ From Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) to site investigation and sampling events, GCE has total competence with the Phase I & II process. GCE completed a Phase I and Phase II ESA for a Long Island auto dealership, using in-situ chemical oxidation to reduce Tetrachloroethene (PERC) contamination. ## Environmental Site Assessment GCE was chosen to complete a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment on behalf of a confidential Long Island automobile dealership to determine if a property, in its entirety, is subject to recognized environmental conditions which is often an influential step in the decision-making process for real estate transactions and for general environmental due diligence purposes. As a follow up a Phase II Site Investigation was performed and based on the findings situ chemical oxidation a remediation technique used for soil and groundwater remediation to reduce the concentrations of Tetrachloroethene (PERC) contaminants on the property. All work has been performed according to applicable regulatory standards. ### Tank Remediation https://www.gcenvironmental.com/projects/tank-remediation/ Over 35 years of business our team of contractors and consultants have successfully removed and remediated hundreds of leaking underground storage tanks. GCE closed and removed two 8,000-gallon ## Underground Storage Tank Removal GCE was chosen to complete removal of the two (2) 8,000-gallon capacity #6 fuel oil steel underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated ancillary equipment by using remove/disposal method and investigate/verify the conditions of soil and groundwater and necessary remedial action to address impacts associated with the release identified during tank removal activity. The two (2) 8,000-gallon underground storage tanks were closed in accordance the requirements of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Westchester County Department of Health (WCDH), as well as City of New Rochelle Fire and Police agencies. During the tank removal activity remedial work and subsurface investigations were performed at the subject property. All petroleum impacted soil within the tanks’ location was excavated, stockpiled, placed into 20-yards dump trucks and removed from the site and disposed of. In total approximately 7,000-gallons of impacted water and approximately 885-tons of contaminated soil was removed from the Site and disposed of and closure report was completed. ### On-Site Tank Build https://www.gcenvironmental.com/projects/on-site-tank-build/ GCE has experience with entire tank, piping, and containment build and set-up according to applicable regulatory standards. GCE completed an on-site, as-built tank installation of a 3,000-gallon aboveground storage tank with all associated piping per applicable regulatory standards. ## On Site Tank Installation GCE was chosen to perform complete tank installation on-site as built for a 3,000-gallon above ground storage tank with all associated piping as designed for a private client.
