An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a detailed analysis of the impacts a proposed action will have on the human environment. The EIA includes a detailed description of the proposed project and alternatives as well as direct and indirect effects and mitigation of significant adverse impacts. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), for federal actions that will have a significant effect on the quality of the human environment.
